Theft in Chagrin Highland home in Solon Ohio

Solon Police Officer Robert Bozak responded to 39910 Lochmoor Drive in Chagrin Highland Subdivision in Northeast Solon on a report of breaking and entering on November 15, 2013.  Carmen Uroic, a subcontractor for Altisource reported that copper pipes and other items were missing from the foreclosed property.

Carmen Uroic advised that the property was foreclosed in April 2013.  He had changed the door locks in August 2013.  At that time the drywall was damaged and copper pipes were removed from three bathrooms and a laundry room on the second floor, one bathroom and laundry room on the first floor.  In the basement all the copper pipes were removed in addition to a hot water tank and gas furnace.

The owner of the property at 39910 Lochmoor Drive is US Bank, Trustee.  Altisource, based in Atlanta Georgia, provides services to sub-prime servicers, government agencies and many lenders, servicers, investors, mortgage bankers, credit unions, financial services companies and hedge funds.  William Shepro is the CEO of Altisource.

Chagrin Highland subdivision is located in former Councilwoman Toni Richmond’s City of Solon Ward 3.  City of Solon is currently accepting applications for this Ward 3 city council representative vacancy.


State Rep. Marlene Anielski welcomes Solon School Students

COLUMBUS—State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) recently welcomed fourth grade students and their parents from Lewis Elementary School, Parkside Elementary School and Roxbury Elementary School to the Statehouse to participate in her “Legislator for a Day” program. This Legislator for a Day program gives students the opportunity to see how government works on a state level and an in-depth look into the legislative process. The students participated in a mock legislative voting session in the House chambers, took a VIP tour of the Statehouse, and had lunch. While on the tour, the group had a chance to meet with Governor John Kasich, who stressed the importance of keeping up with their studies and to always be a friend to others.

Solon City Council seeks one good Ward 3 resident

The Solon City Council is accepting applications to fill a Ward 3 Council Representative vacancy for the unexpired term ending November 30, 2015.  This vacancy follows the resignation of Ward 3 Councilwoman, Toni Richmond, from Solon City Council.

Applicants must be a resident of the City of Solon for 18 consecutive months and a qualified elector residing in Ward 3.  The salary for this part time vacancy is approximately $11,877.32.  There are no benefits.

Interested persons must submit a resume along with a letter of interest to Carol McConoughey, Clerk of Council, 34200 Bainbridge Road, Solon, Ohio, no later than Monday, December 2, 2013, by 4:00 P.M.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held during the first or second week of December, 2013.

Solon resident charged with child enticement

On 10/31/13 at 11:14 a.m. Solon Police officers Michael Gantt and Ptl. Soltis responded to Solon Middle School and spoke to 12 year old student.

According to the victim, she was confronted by a male on her way to her bus stop located at Cromwell Drive and Hamilton Court in Liberty Hill subdivision in South Solon.  The male asked her if she had a boyfriend and inquired if she was going Trick-or-Treating that night.  The male placed both of his hands around her waist and attempted to pull her towards him.  She pushed him away.  The male disengaged and became angry.  The victim turned away from the male in an effort to find someone to help her, however, there was no one else around.  The male was upset and giving passing vehicles the middle finger.

The victim also told officers that she has observed the same male standing outside in the area of Monroe Court almost every day watching her wait for the bus.  A thorough investigation was conducted which led officers to identify and arrest a suspect who fit the description.  Keith Houska, 53, a resident of Liberty Hill Apartments of Solon was charged with Criminal Child Enticement a Misdemeanor of the first degree.

City of Solon's dog nuisance ordinance

City of Solon’s Codified Ordinance 618 deals with animals.


(a)   No person shall keep or harbor any dog within the Municipality which, by frequent and habitual barking, howling or yelping, creates unreasonably loud and disturbing noises of such a character, intensity and duration as to disturb the peace, quiet and good order of the Municipality.  Any person who allows any dog habitually to remain or be lodged or fed within any dwelling, building, yard or enclosure, which he or she occupies or owns, shall be considered to be harboring such dog.

(b)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.


(a)   No person shall keep or harbor any animal or fowl in the Municipality so as to create noxious or offensive odors or unsanitary conditions which are a menace to the health, comfort or safety of the public.
(b)   No owner shall allow his or her dog, cat, or other domestic animal to become a public nuisance.  Excessive barking, whining or howling, molesting passersby, chasing vehicles, attacking other domestic animals, and damaging property shall be considered nuisances under this section.

(c)   Any animal that scratches, digs, urinates or defecates upon any lawn, tree, shrub, plat, building or other public or private property, other than the property of the owner or person in charge or control of such animal, is hereby declared to be a public nuisance.  Where the owner or person in charge or control of such animal immediately removes all feces deposited by such animal and disposes of the same in a sanitary manner, such nuisance shall be considered abated.
(d)Whoever violates any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.

City of Solon’s animal warden is Greg Miller.  The animal warden works under the supervision of the Police Chief Christopher Viland.  These misdemeanor cases require a mandatory appearance at the Bedford Municipal Court at 66 Columbus Road, Bedford.  Lon Stolarsky is the prosecutor for City of Solon.
